ESPANOL 1/ SPANISH 1

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
In Spanish 1, students will be introduced and study the language and culture of Hispanic communities worldwide. Listening, speaking, reading, and writing in the target language are emphasized. After completing this course, students will be able to discuss personal topics, such as preferences, family, school, and descriptions.
 
  • Students will have several projects both oral and written to create presentations using Spanish. (both in-class and out of class assignments)
  • Students will also use workbooks / in-class journals which are provided to reinforce their listening and writing skills.
  • Throughout the course, students will be engaging with authentic Spanish materials to support  topics covered.
  • Everyday, the majority of drills and activities will be conducted in Spanish, though English will continue to be used to help give and clarify instructions and cover complex materials. (50% English/50% Spanish)
 
In order to accommodate all learning styles, grammar will be taught using various methods, such as foldables,  as well as, visually through examples and videos, also in context of the material covered.

 

 An additional objective of this course is to develop an understanding and appreciation of Spanish speakers and their culture and civilizations.
