Welcome to Lakeside High School and the spring semester of 2017!
We are now halfway through the 2016-2017 school year and it has already been a fantastic year! We are looking forward to an ambitious second semester as we continue our outstanding academic achievements, successful winter and spring sports seasons, exciting and engaging student activities, and continued awe-inspiring performances from our exceptional performing arts department.
As we enter into the second semester, our calendar has many exciting and challenging events in store. On February 23rd all sophomores will be taking the PSAT exam during the school day. Prior to our Spring break (starting on April 10th) our junior class will be taking the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium “SBAC” exams (computer based assessment). May rounds out the year of testing with the Advanced Placement “AP” exams from May 1st through the 12th.
Parents, the simultaneous beginning of the New Year and the spring semester is a perfect time to review with your student’s progress toward achieving personal and academic goals. If you haven’t already done so, I encourage you to take this time to celebrate their successes and reinforce their plans for a strong finish this school year.
Please “Save the Date” for our Parent/Teacher Conferences and report card pickup on Wednesday March 22nd from 5:00pm to 7:00pm in our gym. This is a great opportunity to meet with your student’s teachers and receive information on current classroom performance, possible upcoming projects and/or missing assignments that can still be turned in for credit. Our many campus activities provide Lakeside students the chance to explore their leadership and creative skills. In addition to the opportunity to get involved and grow in leadership capacity, our campus activities provide students a vehicle to strike a needed balance between their academic and personal lives in order to flourish as productive and fulfilled citizens.
Lakeside High School is an amazing high school that has much to be proud of. Our staff is dedicated to maximizing the academic success and personal growth of each of our students, and I am confident that we have the right people, resources, and tenacity to continue to do just that. At LHS, our aim is to prepare each of our students for post high school success by providing them with a solid academic foundation that will enable them to pursue any post-secondary endeavor they choose.
As we continue working together, I am confident that our students’ academic, social, and extracurricular needs will be met. Thank you for your support of our school!
We believe in Green and Gold!
