CAPITOLCOURSE DESCRIPTION: (Course is taught Fall or Spring)
In U.S. Government, the content of the course will be based on the California State Standards for American Government.
  • Students will be introduced to the roles and responsibilities of the 3 government branches and focus on the relationship between federal, state, and local governments, comparing them to other systems of government.
  • This course is required for high school graduation and meets the Social Science A-G requirements for the UC/CSU system.
MATERIALS NEEDED:
  • Textbook: IMPACT California Social Studies: Principles of American Democracy (McGraw-Hill)
  • Workbook: Inquiry Journal: Principles of American Democracy (McGraw-Hill)
  • McGraw-Hill online
  • Supplemental Readings provided in class.
  • Student Materials: Basic school supplies (pencils, pens, paper)
  • WiFi Enabled Device: Smartphone, Tablet, Laptop, to use in class and at home to access course assignments, assessments, and materials.

  • Students will be introduced and study various economic institutions and systems with a focus on the elements of the market economy.
  • The basic principles of Micro and Macroeconomics, along with personal finances and budgeting are emphasized. After completing this course, students will be able to discuss topics, such as
