LHS Cyber Clubs

Welcome to Lakeside High School's Cyber Clubs!
Starting in 2019, we have competed nationally against thousands of teams in the US CyberPatriot competition.  We currently host the only CyberPatriot Teams in Lake Elsinore.  We have participated in the picoCTF, Capture the Flag picoGYM practice challenges, and hope to compete for scholarships this spring. We also have the only chapter in Lake Elsinore of the nationally recognized "Girls Who Code" organization. In our computer lab we can explore programming simple robots, physical computing with Raspberry Pi's, Web development, and other fun coding projects. Our members have also built computers, installed operating systems and monitored network configurations.  Most importantly, we support each other, learn and have fun.
"CyberPatriot is the National Youth Cyber Education Program created by the Air Force Association to inspire K-12 students toward careers in cybersecurity or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation's future. At the core of the program is the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition, the nation's largest cyber defense competition that puts high school and middle school students in charge of securing virtual networks." -https://www.uscyberpatriot.org/

We register for each new season May 1st, have summer activities and compete primarily in the fall semester.

CTF stands for Capture The Flag. In this case, the flag is a secret message hidden on a website, inside a photograph, in a piece of code, streaming as some network traffic, or hidden in a variety of ways that require a broad base of computer science knowledge to solve. This fun, free, hacking competition has a series of challenges that score different amount of points, based on difficulty. In the course of solving these challenges, students learn about web pages, encryption, binary exploits, encoded messages, forensics and much more. picoCTF is sponsored by Carnegie Mellon University.

Our first year, we tested our skills just for fun. This year, we plan to compete for the picoCTF scholarship
