BLACK STUDENT UNION (BSU)

LAKESIDE BSU MISSION: The vision was created in 2014 with a small group of students joining at lunch to provide them a space to gather. The LHS BSU was officially Established in 2017. The mission of the Black Student Union is to promote a positive and productive representation of the African American community on and off the LAKESIDE High School campus. We promote proactive leadership, scholarship, community outreach, and student empowerment. We embrace our cultural heritage, unity, and the appreciation of diversity.

The BSU's focus is to build awareness, education, and a new level of consciousness about being an African American in today's society. We aim to teach others about diversity through engaging activities focused on acceptance and tolerance,  allowing a better understanding of others while learning about ourselves.

ALL STUDENTS are welcome to be a part of our mission.

CLUB GOAL: The club's goal is to allow students to participate in activities and discussions that promote a better understanding of the experiences and issues affecting African-American students. All students are welcome to join, regardless of their racial or cultural background. Diversity is embraced in this club, as it fosters meaningful discussions, understanding, and acceptance. The club is student-run with supervision and sponsorship from faculty members.
